Western NY has opportunity written all over it with the combination of education, diverse small and medium size manufacturing as well as a strong work ethic. What seems to hold us back is the lack of depth (people) in areas that support hi-tech manufacturing. Business owners are looking for qualified machinists and assembly people to expand business. One can only hope that our Governor and Legislature take note of the issues in California and Illinois and take steps to make NY state more attractive to growing businesses. The diversity of manufacturing in WNY is amazing when you look at the clusters of small and medium size companies who for the most part are doing very well here.
